Views and Experiences of Children in Baptist Churches

Abstract

Children who attend local churches are part of the Church of today, not tomorrow. The 2016 National Church Life Survey gave children aged 8 to 14 years an opportunity to share their views and experiences. Some Baptist churches across Australia enabled their children to participate. In this report we present results from around 2,300 Baptist children. A second companion report presents the views of different generations for those attenders aged 15 and over (Powell, 2019). About Baptist children aged 8 to 14 years: This report starts with a demographic profile of the Baptist child respondents: their age, gender and country of birth. Understanding which types of school these young survey participants attend also provides some context for interpreting their responses. We also present results on a range of indicators of wellbeing in various areas of life.
